About Us |
Foundation for Humanist Society (FHS) is registered under Bombay Public Trust Act 1950 ( F 28950 - Mumbai, exempted under 80G of Income Tax Act) and has its registered office at 801 Gulshan-1, Juhu Lane, Andheri-West, Mumbai, India 400058.The operational office is situated at 202 Flyover Apartment, East end of Andheri Flyover Bridge, Telli Galli corner, Andheri-East, Mumbai 400 069
The Aims and Objects of the FHS is open for all communities without any discrimination of caste, creed, religion, region, nationality, colour, social status, educational qualification.
In general the following are the broad categories of the Aims and Objects of the FHS: 1.. Relief and development of: ¨ children & women ¨ old aged people ¨ handicapped individuals ¨ poor / deserving persons ¨ people affected by natural calamities, disasters etc 2. Advancement of Education – both formal and non-formal. 3. Medical relief 4. Providing facilities for the recreation / sport or other leisure time occupation (including assistance for such provision) in the interest of social welfare and public benefit.
5. Implementation of rural/village or slum development program as approved by the Govt. of India, including any program for promoting the social and economic welfare of, or the benefit of the needy-poor public in rural/village or slum areas, and also any program of conservation of natural resources, and also agriculture, horticulture, animal husbandry and fisheries, dairy and poultry farming and hatchery and forestation of waste land and social forestry, handicrafts / local arts – skills, self help groups.
6. Promote new current of public welfare thoughts and the actions to orient positive changes in the human being in personal and social fields based on non-violence and non-discrimination.
7. Activities to diffuse its objects for the benefit of wider public knowledge and positive influence such as: ¨ To publish books, magazines, newsletters, booklets to organize / participate in public seminars, study groups, courses, lectures, correspondence courses, debates, workshops, exhibitions, competitions. ¨ To produce audio and video cassettes for mass communication ¨ To set-up guidance, assistance centers ( Manavta Kendras) for direct communication at grass root level, reading rooms, libraries, eduacational institutions, charitable health / medical centre, cultural centres, co-operative societies, employment generation schemes and training centres. ¨ Support setting-up of commissions of study, research, inquiry, experiment and transformation for progressive development in various fields such as science, technology, art, management, education, health, medicines etc. ¨ To carry out joint activities, projects with other organizations, national and international, having the same or similar objects. ¨ To award scholarships and fellowships in cash or in such form on such terms and conditions as the Managing Committee may think fit for the purpose of undertaking and encouraging studies, research work for advancement in direction of the objects of the FHS in India or abroad to deserving people. ¨ To carry out activities to improve quality of life of human beings. ¨ To work for humanist society based on mutual cooperation. ¨ To carry out any other activity that is deemed to be treated to be a furtherance and achievement of the aim and objects.
To implement the above mentioned objectives of the FHS, meetings are held on weekly basis, to chart out plan of action, resources and monitoring the projects undertaken.
